Welcome to The By-Pass Blog

This blog is my personal experience through gastric bypass surgery. As I prepared for the surgery I had so many questions that I wanted answered. I loved hearing about other peoples experineces but found they often forgot many of the details. I started this for myself to one day look back on. If you read it an enjoy it, I'd love to hear from you. If you are considering having bypass surgery, I completely encourage you to do it.

Soft Foods

I have been able to eat 2 ounces of food four times a day and I feel great. I have been measuring my 2 ounces, but have learned that string cheese comes in a one ounce package. Individual cups of applesauce are four ounces and have to be broken into two servings. I'm starting to visualize how much two ounces is, and its not very much!!!

On Friday I let myself go too long without eating something and found myself being quite hungry. I warmed up one ounce of salmon and one ounce of refried beans. I'm not sure if I ate too fast or didn't chew enough but almost immediately after eating it felt like someone was tightening a wrench around the top of my stomach (right under the breast bone.) It took about 25 minutes to pass but then felt much better. Several large burps helped too. It was painful enough that I've been sure to chew really well since it happened. I'll avoid a repeat performance of that at all cost!!
