Easter dinner was tougher than I imagined. We went over to a friends house and it smelled wonderful. I was ok on the ham, the cheesey potatoes were tempting but the killer were the rolls cooking in the oven. THEY SMELLED SOOOO GOOD!! Have to admit that when they came out they didn't look so good so I focused on that. The rest of dinner was ok to get through. I had made some jello and put it into little condiment size bowls so I ate my yummy jello with a baby spoon. I focused on eating slow and taking small bites.
After dinner we went to the park for an easter egg hunt then back to Jenny's for strawberry short-cake. I splurged and put a small spoonful of cool whip (only 1 gram of sugar) on another bowl of jello. With the cook whip it tasted too sweet and I could only eat half of it.
The shocker of the night was actually when we were on our way home. I was holding a veggie plate that still had a few carrots on it. Without even realizing what I was doing I picked up a carrot, bit off a bite and started chewing! After I chewed it about 4 or 5 times I realized what I was doing and spit it out. However, it got me started wondering about how often am I eating due to my subconscious taking over? It was eye opening to me as to just how powerful the subconscious mind is, not only in weightloss, but other aspects of our lives as well.
Today is one week. Since we keep forgetting to buy a new battery for our scale, I got on the WII fit yesterday (Thank you, Easter Bunny) and measured my body fat and weight. Compared to my doctors scale in his office the Thursday before surgery, I am down 17 pounds. I'm kind of not surprised- all I do is go to the bathroom!! I was able to wear a "new" pair of pants today that I dug out of the back of my closet, and it felt great! They're still a size 22, but I was like a kid in a candy store. I have now gone through my closet and all clothes are divided by size.
Today was also the first day I drove since surgery. No problems. Some of the incisions are almost gone. I ran into a friend at Wal-Mart today and she said she could tell that my face is getting thinner. I measured around my hips and have lost one inch since last Monday. I have to admit that I'm REALLY looking forward to Thursday's follow up appointment so I can start on soft foods. I think I've even decided to eat an egg!!
