Welcome to The By-Pass Blog

This blog is my personal experience through gastric bypass surgery. As I prepared for the surgery I had so many questions that I wanted answered. I loved hearing about other peoples experineces but found they often forgot many of the details. I started this for myself to one day look back on. If you read it an enjoy it, I'd love to hear from you. If you are considering having bypass surgery, I completely encourage you to do it.

Measuring Up! (Actually, measuring down!!)

Yesterday was two weeks since surgery day so I decided there is no better way to celebrate than to take measurements. I have lost one inch around my bust (although Evan kindly informed me its mostly back fat since I now have two rolls instead of three), one inch off my waist and two inches off my hips!!! Im so excited! Also, today I weighed myself and I'm at 268 pounds. I was sort of stuck at 271 for several days and was getting a little discouraged. Then I took a moment to really think about it and realized that there will be times when I plateau and I have to let my body adjust.

I have started doing some light exercises and noticed that if I stand up too fast I get light headed. I realized that I tend to eat less in the morning and more in the evening. I think that eating more in the morning would help with the light headedness. Also, I'm noticing other foods and feeling tempted. My stomach feels fine and sometimes I feel really tempted to just have a bite of pizza or even salad. The soft foods are a step above a completely liquid menu, but still don't completely satisfy. I'm never hungry, but I don't feel full either. At least I don't feel "stuffed" like I was used to before...another change the brain gets to accept.
